NQ64
Looking for an alternative pub night, or possibly a trip down memory lane, then NQ64 has you covered! Located in the basement of Merchant Square in Glasgow City Centre, NQ64 is a retro themed arcade bar, splattered in neon paint, and features a variety of classic consoles from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, including Pac-Man, Tetris, Space Invaders, Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, Mario Kart and so much more!
In addition to their everlasting game selection, NQ64 also boasts an extensive range of arcade themed cocktails, taking a spin on some of the classics, including ‘Pacs A Punch’, ‘Lake Springfield’ and ‘Mega Daisy’ – of course, based off ‘Pac-Man’, ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Mario Kart’. Alternatively, there is also a wide selection of beers, wines and mocktails available. However, NQ64 don’t serve food - other than typical bar snacks e.g. crisps, peanuts etc - so be sure to grab a bite to eat elsewhere before you visit.
NQ64 operates a token system, whereby guests can purchase tokens to play games, instead of carrying cash around.
15 tokens = £8
However, before arrival please note that some machines require 2 tokens per play, and in order to play multiplayer, some machines require 4 tokens. Therefore, I recommend visiting in a larger group – and buy rounds of tokens – or perhaps stick to single player games, if you’re looking to save a bit of money! Other than that, it’s a great venue, and even better if you’re looking for a bit of friendly competition or if you think you’re capable of beating the top scores, then go for it!
In terms of opening hours, don’t worry, NQ64 is open until 3am every day of the week! So even if you can’t get down at night, you still have until the early hours of the morning to make your way through all the games and sample many of their signature cocktails!
But before you go, be sure to keep an eye on their socials for frequent giveaways! And what’s a night out without jumping in the photo booth? Make sure to snap some shots before you leave!
